Bold

Keyboard shortcuts are the fastest way to work in Excel. Most use the Ctrl key held down with a letter.

The shortcut for bold is Ctrl+B.

Hold Ctrl and press B.

Undo

Made a mistake? Ctrl+Z undoes your last change, and you can press it again to step further back. It's the shortcut people use most.

Press the shortcut that undoes your last change.

Edit a cell

Typing into a cell replaces whatever was there. To change part of an entry instead, open the cell for editing with F2. The cursor appears at the end of what's already in the cell.

Press the key that opens the selected cell for editing.

Jump to the top of the sheet

In a big sheet, scrolling back to the top is slow. Ctrl+Home jumps straight to cell A1 from anywhere.

Press the shortcut that jumps to cell A1.

Try it in a real spreadsheet

Every step checks your answer instantly and tells you exactly what to fix.
