What you'll practise

  1. Make the headers bold Hands-on
  2. Show prices as currency Hands-on
  3. Highlight the low stock Hands-on

Make the headers bold

Formatting changes how cells look without changing what's in them. Bold headers make a table easier to read at a glance.

To select several cells, click the first one, hold Shift and use the arrow keys.

Select A1:C1, then click B on the toolbar or press Ctrl+B.

Show prices as currency

Number formats change how a number is shown. Its value stays the same: 7.5 can appear as $7.50 and still add up correctly.

Select the prices in C2:C5, then click $ on the toolbar.

Highlight the low stock

A fill colour draws the eye to cells that need attention. The binders are running low on stock.

Click the binder's stock figure in B5, then click Fill on the toolbar to highlight it.

Try it in a real spreadsheet

Every step checks your answer instantly and tells you exactly what to fix.
