What you'll practise

  1. Compare with a column chart Chart
  2. Show a trend with a line chart Chart
  3. Show shares with a pie chart Chart

Compare with a column chart

Charts turn numbers into pictures people understand at a glance. Column charts are best for comparing amounts side by side.

A chart needs labels (the categories) and values (the numbers).

Insert a column chart of Bookings by Quarter: labels A2:A5, values B2:B5.

Show a trend with a line chart

Line charts show how something changes over time, making rises and falls easy to spot.

Insert a line chart of Refunds by Quarter, using A2:A5 for the labels and column C for the values.

Show shares with a pie chart

Pie charts show how a whole splits into parts. They work best with only a few slices.

Insert a pie chart showing each quarter's share of Bookings.

Try it in a real spreadsheet

Every step checks your answer instantly and tells you exactly what to fix.
